Year 12 Visit Bletchley ParkWed, 14 Dec 2022The current Year 12 mathematics students were recently provided with an opportunity to visit Bletchley Park. If you haven’t heard of it, this is where the British Intelligence cracked the infamous Enigma code to help with the war efforts in WWII. Students were given a tour of the historical grounds whilst also participating in their own code breaking activity. The students were taught some code breaking techniques and were also able to write their own code words using a real Enigma machine, ‘worth half a million pounds’. The students were also able to see the Bombe machine, (conceived by legendary computer scientist Alan Turing) it was used to crack the Enigma code, you might have seen a version of this in the film “The Imitation Game”.
