Message From The Head

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am delighted to welcome you to Sandwell Academy, a school that strives to provide the best opportunities possible for local children.

There are three things that I ask from all students:

  • Be Brave: to be prepared to push themselves out of their comfort zones, to tackle new challenges and to show resilience in the face of adversity
  • Be Kind: to demonstrate sympathy and empathy to others, to do the right thing, and to be the best version of themselves
  • Be Proud: to celebrate who they are, where they have come from, and the achievements they have secured

Sandwell Academy opened in 2006 and educates in the region of 1400 students. We welcome 200 children into Year 7, and our popular Sixth Form hosts around 400 aspirational young people. We are a proud part of the Thomas Telford Multi Academy Trust (TTMAT), which was established in September 2017. We are currently joined by Madeley Academy, Walsall Academy, Thomas Telford UTC and Redhill Primary. We share a simple belief: children in the West Midlands deserve the greatest chance to succeed in their lives and we work together to realise this ambition.

Our students enjoy outstanding facilities and an environment that is highly conducive to learning. From our first class sports and performing arts facilities, to our state-of-the-art laboratories, workshops and classrooms, there really is something for everyone at Sandwell Academy. This was reflected in Ofsted’s judgement of us as an ‘Outstanding’ school during our last inspection.

Sandwell Academy is extremely proud of its students, and I believe in finding the things that really engage young people to help them to reach their potential. Our children benefit from a broad and balanced academic curriculum, and they enjoy superb opportunities for extra-curricular enrichment. We provide a safe, caring and nurturing environment, and seek to provide the highest levels of pastoral care and support. We believe in the values of hard work and respect, and we expect our children to develop into responsible adults. Teachers and parents are united in their hopes for the progress and development of our children, and we welcome you to contact us if you would like further information.
