SANDWELL ACADEMY NURSERY

Sandwell Academy Nursery opened in April 2007.  It is situated within Sandwell Academy, the new all ability 11-18 school for the future.  We are located in Halfords Lane, West Bromwich opposite one of our sponsors, West Bromwich Albion Football Club.

We are located within state of the art facilities and we have brand new equipment and resources.  Our small and friendly nursery offers places for 6 babies aged 6 weeks – 2yrs and 12 children aged 2yrs- 5yrs.

Nursery is open 47 weeks of the year, closing for 1 week at Easter, 2 weeks in the Summer, 1 week in October, 1 week at Christmas and all the bank holidays.  We are open from 8.00am – 5.30 pm Monday – Thursday and 8.00am – 5.00pm on Fridays.  We provide the children with breakfast, dinner, tea, drinks and fruit snacks throughout the day.  All meals are prepared within the Academy restaurant, allowing us to provide a menu that reflects cultural and dietary needs.

We offer full and half day sessions for children aged 2yrs – 5yrs.  The morning session is from 8.30am – 12.30pm and the afternoon session is from 1.00pm – 5.00pm.  We provide a range of activities to cater for all our children’s needs following The Early Years Foundation Stage Principles. (EYFS)

Prices for children from 6 weeks of age – 2yrs of age - £130.00 per week and £31.00 per day.  Prices for children from 2yrs of age – 5yrs of age - £120.00 per week, £29.00 per day and £16.00 per half a day.  We are also registered to receive the Nursery Education Funding (NEF) which allows 12 1/2hrs of ‘free’ education for 38 weeks of the year.

Sandwell Academy Nursery provides a safe, caring and stimulating environment where parents and carers can feel confident about leaving their children. Security is first rate and entrance is gained via a manned gatehouse and extensive CCTV is in operation.  

The Nursery is managed by Miss Debbie Rides who holds the Advanced Diploma in Childcare and Education, is currently studying the Early Years Foundation Degree and has over 15 years childcare experience.  Miss Amy Hobbis who gained her BTEC in Early Years in June 2004 is the Deputy Nursery Nurse.  There are currently four Nursery Nurses, Mrs Lorraine Bean who gained her NVQ3 in Early Years Care and Education in June 2002, Miss Lisa Reacord who gained the NNEB qualification on June 1994, Miss Emily Fellows who gained her BTEC in Early Years Care and Education in July 2007 and Mrs Heather Ore who gained her NVQ2 in Children's Care, Learning and Development in September 2009 and is currently studying her NVQ3. All staff have Enhanced CRB clearance.
