Local Quality Award
The Academy have successfully achieved the Black Country Quality award (BCQA) which is designed to accredit good practice and encourage development in careers education and guidance in Black Country schools and colleges.
Feedback from the assessment team:
Strengths
- Pupils demonstrated good levels of knowledge and understanding regarding careers and were able to relate their learning across the curriculum to their career plans. They have opportunity to record their developing career ideas as part of the termly reviewing processes which form the basis for discussions with form tutors, Connexions and parents/carers.
- All departments are encouraged to jointly plan work with the Director of Careers and the success of this is reflected in the fact that the Director has set up procedures to cope with the high levels of response.
- Strong working links are maintained with employers, helped by the work of the Industrial Consultants, to ensure a wide range of work experience opportunities are available for pupils.
- Very well integrated programme of Industrial experiences for learners.
“Quality standards reflect good practice and … aid self evaluation – a process recommended by OFSTED – and support internal quality assurance systems.” [Careers Education and Guidance in England: A National Framework 11-19 - 2003] |
