Career Pathways: Humanities

Studying for a Humanities degree will cover a variety of modules that explore the human experience and the world that we live in, through rational analysis, emotional insight and imagination.

Students considering applying for an undergraduate degree in one of the Humanities would be advised to select one or more courses from the following:

  • A Level History
  • A Level Geography
  • A Level English Literature
  • A Level Religious Studies
  • A Level Art and Design

Graduates from Humanities can expect to have a whole range of career pathways open to them including: marketing, journalism, graduate roles in finance or business, public sectors or central government, teaching or law.

Universities also look for a range of elements within an application to read a Humanities subject such as:

  • A GCSE profile including grade 4's and above in Maths and English
  • A Level predictions ranging from AAA – CCC, dependent on the University
  • Strong academic reference
  • Work experience with reflective learning
  • Extracurricular activities that have developed suitable skills and qualities.
