Superb Results for Sandwell Academy Sixth Form Students

Thu, 15 Aug 2019

There is once again much cause for celebration at Sandwell Academy after Sixth Form students achieved another excellent set of A Level examination results. Outstanding outcomes included 36% A*/A grades and 82% A*/C grades with 100% of the students achieving three qualifications or better.

The tougher A-Level and BTEC courses have proved challenging; however, Sandwell Academy students have consistently led the way in Sixth Form performance in the borough since it opened in 2006 and this year’s results demonstrate the hard work of students and staff at the Academy.

All students should be rightly proud of their achievements but amongst the stand out performances were Fabiha Ahmed, who achieved and A* in Mathematics, an A in Chemistry and an A in Biology, and will gain a place at the University of Birmingham studying Medicine.

Callum Taylor achieved A*’s in Mathematics and Further Mathematics and an A in Physics , he will be going on to study Mathematics at the University of Nottingham.

Abhijeet Singh achieved four Distinctions in Double Sport, ICT and Business, Abhijeet will go on to study Business, Computing and ICT at Aston University.

Jack Denton achieved an A* in Art and Design, a Distinction in ICT and Distinction* in BTEC Business. Jack plans to study Graphic Communication at Birmingham City University.

Louis Rushton achieved Triple Distinction in BTEC Sport and he will be going to study Physical Education at the University of Worcester.

Ian Williams, Head of the Academy, commented: “I am delighted at the outcomes achieved by our sixth form students and send my fullest congratulations to them all. I would like to thank the teachers, support staff and parents for their commitment in encouraging our talented students during their time with us. We look forward to supporting every student to a positive destination at university, college or in an apprenticeship, further training or employment. I know that these young people will go on to achieve great things and make a positive contribution to society in the future. Well done and good luck to them all”
