Visit to High Speed Rail College

Tue, 12 Feb 2019

Four Sixth Form students, who have expressed an interest in a career in Engineering, attended a taster day at the new High Speed Rail College in Birmingham on Wednesday 30 January 2019.

The students took part in a series of workshops including a rail related quiz, a tour of the college and completed a team challenge involving robotics and attended a presentation by a current student.

Overall students found the day very informative about future career opportunities and pathways available in the rail industry, and in particular, HS2 and its upcoming opportunities in the West Midlands.

A Year 12 student commented:

“The day was insightful as I didn’t realise about the qualifications that could be gained, which are so versatile for use within the entire world wide rail industry. The technology there is of the highest standard and this would give a perfect setting for studying if I was to pursue a career in the rail industry.”
