Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award

Wed, 06 Jun 2018

On 19 and 20 May 2018, 27 students from Year 10 took part in their final Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition. Students have trained throughout the year honing their map reading, camp craft and teamwork skills, which they put to the test over two days in Llandrinio. Students were tasked with navigating a countryside route that included the breathtaking view from Admiral Rodney's Pillar, while carrying all of their equipment for the weekend.

This is the second group of Year 10 students to complete the expedition this year and there are now almost 60 students vying to complete the volunteering, physical and skills section of the Award. A large number of students have already expressed a desire to continue to Silver in the next academic year. Mr Sturley will be launching the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme to Year 9 students in the coming weeks.
