On Saturday 20th May, Sandwell Academy held an open day for eager Year 7 recruits to come along and experience cadets first hand; practising camouflage and concealment, cooking in the field as well as other basic cadet tasks. The recruits seemed to really enjoy the day and had a taster of different activities they can do next academic year. Parents were invited to a short introduction to the Army Cadet Force, followed by a drill display on the hard play area. All cadets demonstrated improved drill skills and were able to march together in uniform. Well done to the following promotions: Cdt Jeens to RP, RP Jones to LCpl and RP Madhas to LCpl. Following the promotions, parents were invited to watch a live demonstration of cadet field craft skills. Existing cadets showed off their hard work over the last few months, completing a full section attack including attacking an enemy. A great day was had by all and a big thank you for the excellent turn out by all students.
