Year 10 Work Experience

Wed, 12 Jul 2017

Sandwell Academy Year 10 students recently took part in a week of Work Experience placements. The placements took place at a wide variety of organisations covering a range of different sectors, including teaching, IT, manufacturing, engineering and leisure centres to mentioned a few. The aim of the week was to raise awareness of the world of work to students and for them to gain real “hands on” experience of the day-to-day roles involved.

During the week, students received a visit from a staff member who spoke to both the students about their experience and the individual who was overseeing the placement. The feedback from many organisations was exceptionable with students being a credit to themselves and the Academy. The student’s feedback was also very positive with many placements exceeding their expectations.

Miss Orton – Director of Careers and Guidance said ”We are delighted with the success of this year’s Work Experience for our Year 10 students, they have really shone and many of them have received offers for additional work placements during the summer break. We would like to thank all of the employers who supported work experience placements, without whom our students would not have these invaluable experiences and insights into the world of work”
